Star 30 - Goodman St.

Highland Park Diner

Good food, nice atmosphere, a little dive in the city. Nice to go for brunch on sundays.

Star 29 - St. Paul St.

High Falls District and St. Paul Street

There is stuff up there, I'm not too familliar... I'll find out more information. I do know that there are clubs on St. Paul Street.

Star 27 - Court Street

Blue Cross Arena - http://www.bluecrossarena.com/

This is where some major events happen, along with local sporting evnts. There is the Amercs (hockey) and the Knighthawks (Lacross). Concerts happen here and the circus too. So check out their website for upcoming stuff. There is parking, it's about 7 dollars across the street from the arena.

Dino BBQ - http://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/rochesterIndex.php

Great place to eat. Must go. Does get busy so go earlier than typical meal times.

Star 26 - Jefferson Road

BJ's

RIT students have a free membership to BJ's. It's like a Sam's Club. All you have to do is bring your RIT student ID and hand it to a customer service preson and they will give you a pass. This is a great place to buy big ticket items like printers or computers because they are typically cheaper than walmart or best buy.

A break from the map - Garbage Plates

Ok, the first thing you are going to be told when you get to Rochester, is all about the Garbage plate. Your FYE class will explain to you how bad it is for your health, how just one plate is a days worth of callories.

But you should try it at least once.

Pretty much every dinning hall on campus has it's version, mostly because they use different "meat sauces". I wouldn't recommend eating one in the middle of the day.

What a Garbage Plate consists of:
  • 2 cheese burger patties (no buns)
  • half a plate of macaroni salad
  • half a plate of home fries
  • a heap of "meat sauce" - simular to michigan sauce
  • onions
  • mustard
  • and two pieces of bread with some pats of butter
Now, if someone says that they want to go to the original Nick Tahoes, Don't. It's in a dangerous area of town, it's not worth it.

Some decent places to get a plate
  • Henrietta Hots or H-Hots on Rt.15
  • Gitsis on Monroe Ave
  • Jay's Dinner has one but you can only have one side (fries or the mac salad), so to have a traditional plate you need to pay for an extra side.... still good though. on Rt. 15
It's something to try, definitely try it once, you should share one for your first try. They are good in the weirdest way.
