This is where some major events happen, along with local sporting evnts. There is the Amercs (hockey) and the Knighthawks (Lacross). Concerts happen here and the circus too. So check out their website for upcoming stuff. There is parking, it's about 7 dollars across the street from the arena.
Dino BBQ - http://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/rochesterIndex.php
Great place to eat. Must go. Does get busy so go earlier than typical meal times.

BJ's
RIT students have a free membership to BJ's. It's like a Sam's Club. All you have to do is bring your RIT student ID and hand it to a customer service preson and they will give you a pass. This is a great place to buy big ticket items like printers or computers because they are typically cheaper than walmart or best buy.

A break from the map - Garbage Plates
Ok, the first thing you are going to be told when you get to Rochester, is all about the Garbage plate. Your FYE class will explain to you how bad it is for your health, how just one plate is a days worth of callories.
But you should try it at least once.
Pretty much every dinning hall on campus has it's version, mostly because they use different "meat sauces". I wouldn't recommend eating one in the middle of the day.
What a Garbage Plate consists of:
Some decent places to get a plate

What a Garbage Plate consists of:
- 2 cheese burger patties (no buns)
- half a plate of macaroni salad
- half a plate of home fries
- a heap of "meat sauce" - simular to michigan sauce
- onions
- mustard
- and two pieces of bread with some pats of butter
Some decent places to get a plate
- Henrietta Hots or H-Hots on Rt.15
- Gitsis on Monroe Ave
- Jay's Dinner has one but you can only have one side (fries or the mac salad), so to have a traditional plate you need to pay for an extra side.... still good though. on Rt. 15

Star 23 - I-90 to RIT
This is where you get off from the highway. When you pay your tolls, there are two ramps. Keep to the left ramp. You can either:
- Go onto 390 N and get off at the Hylan Drive exit which will bring you near wegmans and the mall.
- or
- veer off to the right and get onto 253/15. Take Lehigh station road to east river road and that brings you to campus. or you can take 15.. blah blah.
- you have the map, you can figure out your favorite way :-)
Star 22 - East Ave.
East end of Rochester
Pretty much if you drive down East Ave you will hit some decent spots. I already pointed out George Eastman house, but there is a couple others
To get to the next two places you, i find it easy to remember some choice street names. Get onto Mt. Hope / 15 from RIT. Take a right onto Highland Ave. Take a Left onto Goodman. Take a left onto East Ave. The next two places will be on your right after two and a half blocks.
Little theater - http://www.little-theatre.com/
- Every Sunday there is a student discount
- They have great snacks besides popcorn and candy
- They play movies that you would not generally find in a commercial theater
- Most to all the movies are great, you will not be wasting your money.
- Parking
- you will turn right onto winthrop. There is parking behind the theater. If that is filled up, continue down winthrop. There is a lot way in the back, gravel with no real spaces. It is for the theater also, you can park there. It is relatively safe with no charge.
A cute coffee place right down the block from little theater. Great Great grilled cheeses and hot chocolates. My favoite place to chill out with friends when we want to get off campus.
Star 21 - Lake Ontario
Star 20 - Woodbury Blvd.
Geva Theater - http://www.gevatheatre.org/
There is more to rochester than just eating. If you feel like getting some culture in, check out what is playing here.

Eastview Mall - http://www.eastviewmall.com/
Best mall to go to. More upscale than marketplace mall. Just drive down Jefferson for about 20 minutes and it will come up on your right. Definetly a place to go to shop on a Saturday.

Go east on Jefferson, towards the mall if you are coming to rit.
Go straight for a very long time.
take a left onto route 65
take a right onto route 31. It should be right there.
Movie theater is nicer than Regal near walmart so if you want to, go there. Also if you bring your student ID you get a discount... so it's nicer and cheaper than the one in Henrietta.

- This is one of many places to get a garbage plate to eat. It closes down at 4:30 am, and it about 8 dollars a plate. It's only a quick drive to the resturant, you can sit in or do take out. It is pretty good, not the best but definetly not the worst.

Try a:

- Coffee falvor "Sinful Delight" with a carmel shot
- Shot in the Dark
- Chaplin
You can take out a laptop for your use for 4 hours, you need to have two forms of ID with you, your school ID and your driver's license. The fourth floor is scary so avoid, the higher up you go, the quieter the floor is. There are computer areas also in the library, but you need to pay to print. Print documents from your department computer labs.
The Dorms
Sandella's, and the cornor whore (really the cornor store) have decent food. If for instance, you are living in buildings 30 or 32, the tunnels do connect all the way to the commons. You have to walk all the way to Gracies, walk up the stairs, over to the Campus safety office. There is a door to your left that goes downstairs to the tunnels.
Gracie's
The food isnt' the best, and it may or may not sit well in your stomache. Try not to eat there but if you have no other choice....well try not to eat there.
The Gym
You should definetly invest in a gym locker, it's convient. Only 15 dollars for a quarter.
Gallery Openings
In building 7, there will be gallery openings. Sometimes there is free food. A must go.
Other Housing...I know that this is jumping the gun and you won't have to find new housing for a while but... in ranking order of what is better than what. the top is the best by the way....
- UC
- Colony
- Perkins
- Riverknoll
- Raquet Club
- The RIT Inn
Hockey - It's probably the one thing that we do well. You need to go to a least a couple hockey games and sit near the corner crew. It's hilarious.
